HOLISTIC MUSIC LESSONS

I currently have limited openings available for holistic music lessons. I split my teaching time between Kingston, NY and locally around Beacon/Cold Spring, NY.

Instruments

My students focus on one or more of the following:

guitar, ukulele, voice, bass, keyboards, composition/production, and/or drums/percussion.

While I can give lessons in a single area (eg. dedicated guitar lessons), I try to employ a holistic approach to help develop a well rounded musical practice for each individual.

This can include improvisational songwriting, playing with loop pedals, creative breathing exercises, learning to record demos, drum and percussion work, working with guest instructors, and analysis of existing recorded music.

My lessons are guided by the following principles:

  • Every person has a unique and valuable voice which is worth exploring and developing.

  • Development should be based around enjoyment.

  • Musicianship is a lifelong journey which can be enhanced with a few basic tools.

  • Every musician can and should practice both personally and in community.

  • Physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional health are all connected to musical practice. 

Details & Pricing

I offer play-based private lessons and group workshops, combining elements of guitar teaching, songwriting, vocal and performance development, and music theory and appreciation all in the spirit of exploration. Most of my students also learn on keyboard and percussion instruments.

I have lived and performed on three continents and have studied music and creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College and Oxford University. I have worked across many cultures with both children and adults. My lessons are tailored to the individual's goals, and I build a unique curriculum based on each student's needs.

Lessons last either 30 min, 45 min, or 60 min and can be conducted on Zoom or at Manitou School* in Cold Spring, NY, whichever is more convenient. 

Rates:
$55 per 30-minute session
$85 per 45-minute session
$110 per 60-minute session

Lessons longer than 60 minutes are calculated at the rate of $110 per hour.
